Sylvan Lake... A Town for all Seasons
Sylvan Lake Half Ironman

Hello all,

The 2008 Sylvan ½ Ironman is fast approaching and we are busy ensuring that this will be the best year ever! We have been looking over the feedback from last year's race (both the accolades and the constructive criticisms) and we are addressing your concerns about the beach run portion of the race. We will be fencing the entire length of the shale path along the beach (the first and last 1.4k of the run course) as well as the inside shoulder of the parking lane along Lakeshore (the last 1.4k of the bike course). By implementing these changes, the portions of the course that pass through the busiest areas of the Town will have a much better visual presence and increase the public's awareness of our event; thereby making it safer for all.

We are also working with conservation Alberta and Sylvan Lake Provincial Park to improve the transition and finish areas. The finish area will be better secured and open only to racers as well as being expanded. We are also attempting to re-landscape the transition area to make it drier and nicer on the toes (new grass). We think these changes along with a few other surprises will make an already great race a fantastic one.

We will keep you updated as things progress.

Also, swim slots for the 4th annual May long weekend Sylvan Lake Training Camp are almost full. Don't delay and risk disappointment. Visit www.trainingandracing.com/sylvancamp for more info and sign up today!
